Welcome to the

Ecumenical Fellowship of Aelred of Rievaulx

The vision of  the Rev. Chris Ellis of an ecumenical group with a desire to experience  how Christ  lives actively  in the spiritual and practical life of  all Christians from all denominations,  has  now  grown into a  group of about 150 people from the areas of North Yorkshire and Cleveland.

Over the last 20 years The Ecumenical Fellowship of Aelred has met regularly to strengthen Christian Fellowship through a range of courses, visits, holiday/pilgrimages, walks and days of quiet reflection.

In harmony with Aelred’s vision, people have the opportunity to grow in ecumenical fellowship and deepen their Christian faith and spirituality through theology, prayer, worship and environmental lifestyle. ‘Aelred was a very wise teacher and pastor’ – a 21st century contemporary man.

Investigating Celtic Christianity over the last few years has led us to visit Iona and Lindisfarne, Ireland and Wales together with several places of significant interest in England.

We have addressed social issues such as dementia and the prison chaplaincy service to help us recognise our shared Christian values vocation in our communities.  Members support a village in Uganda and pay the fees for some school and higher education students.

Anyone who wants to develop a dynamic spiritual life is welcome to join the Ecumenical Fellowship of Aelred, based upon a foundation of experience and wisdom, history and engagement with modern life and contemporary issues.

If you are interested in joining us and learning more about how we can all relate to one another, regardless of our denominations, in Christian Fellowship and how Celtic Christianity can bring a new and exciting richness to our faith  please explore this website and if you are interested in finding out more,  send us a message on the ‘Contact’  tab and we will get in touch with you directly.

Why not meet us in fellowship?
